It takes more than 2 months - from 1 May to 4 July 18 before the cyber attacked on Singhealth was discovered. By then 1.5 million patients' non-medical data was breach. Because of the late discovery - a further 160,000 patients' medical record was stolen between 27 Jun to 4 Jul.
Think the hacker(s) must be having a field time, first steal personal data, since no one notice go for medical record too. Why does it takes more than 2 months before major attacked was notice?
IT security system limping weak or Singhealth IT dept sleeping on the job?
Then all these diversion tactics as usual on MSM to take the public focus away from the important questions. Who attacked us? What they intend to do with our data? What is the govt doing to apprehend the hackers?
We are not interested in how many sms were send out to inform patients their data are stolen or not stolen. Neither do we find comfort that PM Lee and Mr Goh CT data was access - which the MSM seems to think so. We find it ridiculous that the MSM reported that Singhealth / govt should be 'lauded' for their handling of this cyber attack - which should not have happened in the first place!
They said it is a major attacked and they know who but can't tell us due to security reason. What the crap! There is no mentioned at all of going after the hacker. What is the point of forming a committee - so many committee have been form in the past whenever something happened. Just like the SMRT issues - they still happened and have gotten even more serious after CEO Ms Saw departure.
They can tell us 'no action needed' in the sms. We are small fly - what can we do, BUT we expect concrete action from the govt. Govt said breach is done by some big time foreign hacker(s) - if so do they steal for fun? Surely they intend monetize the stolen data. So govt knows who behind it and yet not going after them?
Or can it be they are hiding something from us? Everything is national security issue when they don't want us to know- just like GIC, Temasek and our national reserve financial status.
Major cyber security breach and we are not given any details! What are we to think? Maybe for all we know it is a small time hacker and they need to save face for their limping security system.

US-N Korea Summit, YOG, F1 Race - $ Worth ??
What is common linkage of US-North Korean Summit, YOG and F1 Race in Singapore ?
Answer : Obscene amount of money splashed on them.
F1 Race started in 2008. The licencing cost is $65 million every year. The cost of hosting it is in the range of $150 million.
Youth Olympics Game (YOG) was held in Spore in 2010. The initial budget was $104 million, but it overshot by $280 million. YOG cost us a cool $387 to host.
The recent US-N Korea Summit on 12/6/18 cost $20 million to host.
What is the justification of all these big spending ? F1 and YOG were supposed to put S'pore on international stage - get the world to know Spore through wide media coverage and exposure.
The recent summit is Spore 'contribution' to world peace. But after the 2 presidents signed a piece of loose binding agreement which most critics have doubt of its effectiveness of getting N Korea to denuclearized - our govt change track and said the money well spend as it gives Spore international coverage.
US State Dept made a mistake to address Spore as part of Malaysia in the recent summit. For US to make such a mistake to the host country - it is a wake up call to PM Lee that no amount of money or apple polishing is going to correct misconception of Spore being part of some other bigger country (eg China, Malaysia, ....)
It also reflects the obscene amount splashed into money losing venture such as F1 race over the years does little enhance world citizens knowledge of Spore geographical location. If a high US official can made such mistake - what can we expect from common folks ?
Similarly the $387 million spent on YOG for international coverage was also money down the drain, as most would not care where is Spore located.
What makes our PM Lee thinks that folks around the world are more interested in politics than sports? Beside US, Japan and South Korea - the likelihood of other countries citizens paying much attention to this summit event is minimum, as they are not affected and have no direct stake in it.
Our govt expects us to be proud that Spore is hosting this summit. But what is there to be proud about ? Trump leadership is full of controversy and is the laughing stock even within his own party. Kim is a brutal dictator who terrorized neighboring countries and US with his nuclear arm. He murdered his own relatives and brother. He don't believe in human rights and starve his people to fund his nuclear program. He never foot his own bill. N Korea still yet to pay up the bill for the cars they imported from European country. South Korean paid around US$3 million for N Korean to participate in the Winter Olympics and Para Olympics game. N Korean internet hackers stole millions from third world country bank which had weak security system. Kim is just a big time gangster, robber and terrorist.
So just because he is a the head of a country - all these can be overlook? This seems like it seeing how our PM Lee and ministers butter him up.

Shouldn't AVA Be Prosecuted ?
In the recent case of culling of chickens in Sin Ming, who can verify that all those birds culled were domestic fowls? There is a high probability that there are red jungle fowls among them.
A healthy brood of red jungle fowls which are protected endangered species has been featured in a few documentaries (besides Wild City). Thus it is unbelievable when AVA claims that those were all domestic chickens. It is unlikely that a healthy brood of red jungle fowls 'disappeared' overnight to be replaced by a brood chickens.
Besides, AVA also claims that the birds were killed humanly. However, there is no explanation on the method used. If the current method to cull pigeons is used - it is very cruel. Pigeons are first poison to incapacitate their motion, so we see pigeons falling of ledges and roofs after ingesting poison but still alive. Then they are stuff into bags to suffocate slowly to death.
It is an irony that AVA being the 'gatekeeper' for the act on cruelty against animals condone such inhumane culling method for years. Can AVA be trusted to be a reliable 'gatekeeper' for our protected endanger species?
What if the authority such as AVA has crossed the line and infringed upon the Act to protect endangered species and animals against cruelty in the Sin Ming fowl incident - who will prosecute AVA ?

Public turn-off by PAP antics in Parliament
PAP ministers and MPs should examine themselves in the mirror to get a clear image on how hypocritical and self-righteous they looked when they bombarded WP on their lapses in Town Council management.
They would do well to clean up their own houses and acts before they start accusing the other party of non-transparency, evasive behavior ...etc. Did not PAP hide behind a thick steel wall which even Superman's x-ray eyes cannot penetrate when it comes questions on the health and status of our national reserve, GIC, Temasek, and CPF ? The list of sensitive and 'OB marker' questions is getting pretty lengthy.
It is one thing to highlight lapses but going into attack mode into WP integrity and even assassinating individual WP's members character to score political points are a real turn-off which the public finds hard to stomach. If such strong negative words are used on any one of these PAP folks who are notorious for their sensitive skin, - they will sue your pants off. Such uneven balanced of power arouse public indignant and anger at PAP bullying tactics.
It makes us puke to see our Ministers and MPs stooping so low and being so dumb to think we will buy into their 'lengthy' speech which sound like a defective broken record. The same accusations are repeated over and over again by different PAPmaroons members trying to out do each other with stronger and more insulting choice of words.
One of our elite ministers did not even get his facts correct regarding maintenance charges but still insisted with confident that he is right, though the mistake was pointed out to him. He did not even have the integrity to own up to the mistake at the next day parliamentary session that he had made adevious 'honest' misled mistake. Perhaps we have always been given wrong data in other parliamentary sessions which went unchallenged as no one noticed it.
Only out of touch block heads do not understand why the public sympathize with WP when PAP took them to task for their lapses. We do not condone wrong doings, but we also cannot stand when the pot calls the kettle black. PAP should wash, clean and polish their pot till it shines first. After all they claimed to be the 'A' Team and pay themselves handsomely to keep themselves from being corrupt.
So lead by example by being transparent, out front and avoid any conflict of interest :
- Members of parliament should not take on directorship in any private companies.
- PM wife should not even set foot in Temasek.
- PM and his key ministers should not have their thumb prints and footprints all over GIC
- Come clean and answer all public queries on our national reserve, GIC, Temasek, CPF, the base cost of HDB construction.....and the whole lengthy list of 'OB markers' questions we have for years which are never unanswered directly.

The Most Expensive Pest In Singapore !
Wa ... seems like the 'honour' of being the most expensive pest in S'pore (perhaps even internationally) goes to the rats residing in Bt Batok.
According to the Chinese papers and an article in The Real S'pore, it cost the Town Council a cool $120 K for the 'rat removal operation'. That translate to $522 per rat ($120 K divide by 230 rats).
A cost saving way is for the Town Council to organise a neighourhood bonding session, where residents meet up to catch rats. This activity could be included in of our govt current integration program among locals, new citizens and foreign residents. They could pick up a new trade for backup career planning in pest control which looks very promising, as there are reports of rats sighting all over Singapore. Besides there are many mosquitoes to spray all over the island from HDB to private condos.
Or the Town Council could have loan the cats from the recently out of business Cuddles Cat Cafe to eliminate the rats. Those 30 cats are jobless and their owner is desperate to recoup his money. I am sure he can loan them out and charge $5 per rat caught. The bill will only be $1150. Even if he charges $20 per rat it only cost the Town Council $4600.
There are many cat owners and stray cats care givers in Bt Batok. Town Council should have sought their help. Some of them may even be willing to let their cats it do for free. After all the strays are community cats and they will have fun serving the community catching rats. As token of appreciation, Town Council could give these 'heroic' cats 1 month supple of cat food. The cost will be really be PEANUT compare to $120k.
Well, if our Town Councils could lost millions in bad investment without need for accountability to residents, $120k is likely a small sum to them. No need to answer for it, just move on. If money is not enough, raise service and conservancy fee again, never mind even if there are surpluses transfer to the sinking fund. Coming out with an 'excuse' is as easy as ABC.
Singaporeans are quick to pick up on the ironic and humorous side of the whole issue.
"Wah.... 1 rat is equal to 8gram of 999 gold bar sia.... didnt know rat worth so much..."
"can CPIB come in to investigate?? SGD522 for a rat....?? are we taxpapers idiots or what?? "
"What is $120,000? Not even enough to pay the Minister one month salary. To PAP, this is just PEANUT,.."
These quotes are feedback from humorous readers of The Real Singapore who are sick and tire of our govt stupid habit of sitting on a problem and not acting until it explodes. Remember our MRT breakdown, overcrowded hospital, HDB shortage......woes after woes.. They will then turn panicky and start throwing money to solve it, the only way which they know. It does not matter how much it cost as it is tax payers' money after all. It does not matter if it addresses the root cause of the problem, because being shortsighted, they will just pour more money into it, without reflecting on their own shortcoming. If money really can buy talent, how come we have a bunch or morons in parliament ?

Why GIC and Temasek investing in the SAME Company ?
It is reported that both GIC and Temasek have invested in Xiaomi. Why is both our sovereign wealth funds investing in the same company ? Should not they target different companies instead ? It is not common sense not to put all our eggs in one basket ?
We have seen what happened to the likes of Nokia, Motorola, Sony Ericsson and BlackBerry - all once upon a time 'giant' in the mobile phone scene. They have become dwarfs now. Xiaomi may be the next future 'dwarf'.
GIC and Temasek past investment records have many ugly spots. They got burnt by different companies. So now they want to share the same black spot ?

Political Busking By MIW should be regulated !
The article by The S'pore Beacon on 'Political Busking should be regulated' is so ironical. The party that is most guilty of the so call 'political busking' is MIW themselves! So what the writer implies is that when MIW busked away at every opportunity at all those public community events is ok. Only NGOs and non-MIW folks must be regulated.
There is already enough control and regulations to drown us. So much so that even the regulating authorities are not sure of their own policies. Nothing is sufficient for MIW and their supporters as they are so confined with their rigid thinking that ideas not in line with theirs are viewed negatively.
If according to the writer : At the very least, they must declare their source of donations, the purpose and the spending breakdown. Then should not all our governing politicians declare and make transparent their assets and financial status before taking office? There is so much non-transparency on how MIW operates and their supporters have the cheek to ask for transparency. Please lah - get your 'masters' to lead by example and do so first before opening your big mouth. We are currently a 1st world country running on 3rd world opaque system, putting S'pore to shame!
The recent Aljunied Town Council case in a good example of how the pot starts calling the kettle black and it turns out the pot is blacker than the kettle. Then there was the previous AIM saga. Culling Of Pigeons in S'pore
Though I know that pigeons are culled regularly by pest control company employed by Town Council in HDB, but I have never witnessed the horrible scene before. This morning, I saw pigeons being picked up from the ground and bagged into plastic bags. They are still alive but weaken so much that they let themselves be picked up and thrown into plastic bags. Birds were also falling off the ledge onto the ground.
It is so upsetting that a family passing by asked me what is happening. I told them the birds were poisoned. They are non-locals and were shocked that our laws allow such inhuman act.
Imagine how much pain we endure when we have tummy upset. How terrible the pain will be to ingest poison and death is NOT immediate. Here we are talking about making cruelty to animals carries a heavier penalty. On the other hand, we allow such cruel method to be used to cull pigeons which are classified as pest in S'pore.
Pigeons are just birds, but become pest in S'pore context because of our over-development and dense population living in HDB. The poor birds become the victim of S'pore progress !
It is not the pigeons fault that their environment is heavily populated by humans. Why can't we be more tolerant and live and let live. Even if they need to be culled, can't we have more humane way of doing it? The food could be drugged to knock them unconscious. They can then be bagged and gassed with carbon dioxide so that they died while still unconscious.

MIW recruiting ?
Could MIW be recruiting members in preparation for the next election? The latest guess is that MIW finally come to their senses and realised
that their choice of paper army generals and high flying career elites
with airy personality and turn-off character are not to general public
liking.
So now they are looking for folks who can touch base with the ground, like Mr Louis Ng of ACRES who has been a vocal animal welfare activist for decades. It is like killing 2 birds with 1 stone. Besides, muffling a vocal voice, they got someone whom they thought could endear them to voters, especially those with affinity to animals.
Perhaps there may be light at the end of the tunnel for our local unemployed PMETs? Could there be potential openings for them? They need not approach CDC for help to undergo retraining to prepare for downgrading to lower skills and pay jobs which are irrelevant, putting their years of experience to waste. No need to worry about struggling with the substantially lower pay which is hard to keep up with inflation and mounting food cost to support their family.
They could look now forward being recruited to a $16K per month part time job. This job entitles one to be absent at parliamentary session without consequence. You can sneak off too when the session gets to boring without pay cut. You can choose to speak, sleep or remain silent, the wiser option is to sleep or remain silent.
Remember NMP Mr Eugene Tan - the reason he is not reelected could be because he has been too vocal and hardworking during parliamentary session. Being awake and giving hard hitting comments are not advisable for career development with MIW. He used to be interviewed extensively by the papers and on TV for his views. No need to worry about struggling with the substantially lower pay which is hard to keep up with inflation and mounting food cost to support their family.
They could look now forward being recruited to a $16K per month part time job. This job entitles one to be absent at parliamentary session without consequence. You can sneak off too when the session gets to boring without pay cut. You can choose to speak, sleep or remain silent, the wiser option is to sleep or remain silent.
Remember NMP Mr Eugene Tan - the reason he is not reelected could be because he has been too vocal and hardworking during parliamentary session. Being awake and giving hard hitting comments are not advisable for career development with MIW. He used to be interviewed extensively by the papers and on TV for his views. PM Lee's Speech At NUSS Full Of Ironies.
PM Lee's speech at NUSS recently was full of ironies. He was telling uni students that they have a bright future, when his govt is now directly discouraging S'poreans from obtaining a degree, which does not guarantee a job.
Then he also his gave reasons why his govt banned Tan Pin Pin's film - To Singapore, With Love, which has won numerous awards and accolades world wide. According to him, he cannot allow others to present account of themselves which is self-serving personal account and conveniently inaccurate...etc etc.
So who verifies the numerous books his daddy wrote about himself and S'pore are historically accurate and factual? Is his daddy's work not self-serving personal account too?
Is he saying only what comes out of his daddy's mouth is the truth and all other accounts are false? One man words against many others - who do we belief, when we know that one man loves half truth and is a shrewd politician. Politicians are generally good liars, especially when they are self serving and love to glorify themselves.
He again stressed the importance of foreign talent (FT) as according to him, "... allowing foreign professionals to work in Singapore in fact creates more good jobs for Singaporeans. If we are too tight on foreign PMEs, I think many companies would be deterred from coming here, and the jobs for Singaporean PMEs may not even exist in the first place.”
We wish to ask the PM, can he offer us some raw factual numbers (not statistics which can be manipulated) that FT creates more plus good jobs for S'poren and NOT take them away instead? We have seen how easily PRC Yang Yin fools local authority with his fake uni certificate. The university stated on his cert does not even exist in China and the local authority is non the wiser. Exposure of such cases have been on the raise.
It is a confirm fact the India, China and Philippine have syndicates which churn out fake certificates. CNA featured a documentary on Philippine syndicates which are so good at faking certificates they look like the real stuff. They used high tech scanner and even buy real certificate papers from corrupt officers in organisations for the purpose of faking. The universities stated in the cert. do actually exist. So you think our local authority can tell it is a fake, when Yang Yin got away with his non-existence uni so easily.
Philippine govt is worry that their economy can be negatively impacted and damaged with so many fake professionals floating around. According to the documentary, one synthetic can sell more than 40 fake certs per day, and they come cheap, - less than US$20.
Fake professionals are mobile and they will flock to country like S'pore whose govt under PAP stupidly welcomes them with open arms, with job and good pay.

How much compensation to give PM
If PM is looking to 'deep fried' Roy, no amount of compensation will make him happy. After all, through slip of the tongue, we know he will spend time 'fixing' those who oppose him.
Besides, for one earning millions and whose personal asset are likely in the range of 8 to 9 figures, his concept of money is different from us ordinary citizen. Born with a silver spoon in his month and never suffer financial hardship before, a 4-figure sum is definitely small change, peanuts and even derisory to him.
We feel ashamed to have such a thin skin, petty and big ergo leader. Wonder if we have break the genuine book of record for the number of law suits filed by the same family/political party.
Which public figure is not subjected to criticisms ? Even Saint Teresa and Mahatma Gandhi whom people affectionately called 'Mother' and 'Father' respectively, were not spared hard accusations. These great figures never turn vindictive. Gandhi even died blessing his assassin. Perhaps should not have compared him with such great personality, as he is no where near their league.
There is a Chinese saying 'No wind, no tide'. If PM does not like the rising tide, then don't create the wind in the first place. Yes, the irony is the wind is self-created by having himself and family members/political party in key positions in all our major financial institutions. Why the insistence of opacity in these institutions and our national reserve management ? Why keep building brick walls between citizens' access to their own CPF money ?
It is not that we do not understand CPF policies. In fact, people are getting to understand them too well in recent years. Policies flaws cannot be explained away, they need to be rectified. Neither will law suit disperse citizens' questions.

Politicians make good liars
There are many jokes about politicians, many relating to how they can lie without blinking. May be to them, they are not lying since they have a different mind set from us ordinary folks. There are so many ways not to tell the truth - perhaps to a politician that is not lying.
A white lie could be to protect the interest of the citizens/country. Could it be beating around the bush, playing with words, telling half truth and confusing folks with complicated but irrelevant data .. are not lies?
Why do politicians make good liars - BECAUSE they possess all the criteria needed :
- power (to silent, crush, sue......)
- confident (which is link to the power they possess)
- charisma (good to have but not necessary, if one has absolute power to oppress)
Why do politicians lie - BECAUSE power tends to corrupt and could be use to protect their self interest and/or gain monetary. It makes them feel 'invincible' as they can get away with it. This feeds their power ego even more.
Why are politician 'successful' liars - BECAUSE people tend to trust those in power and authority.

2% of retirement income is from CPF
There is an article from The Edge magazine that said the findings from Allianz, a global asset management and insurance firm, found that on average only 2% of retirement disposable income comes from CPF. This is despite the fact the CPF force savings has been in place for decades and its main purpose is to see us through our old age. This is a sad and clear sign of the gross failure of one of our major national policies.
Retirees golden years have been turned into rotten years due to fail CPF policies which keep sucking more of our money into it with its chameleon policies.
The problem is over the years, CPF fund has become more of an easy money for govt investment rather than to see the citizens through their retirement years. The miserable low CPF interest rates have been stagnant for more than a decade, although our sovereign wealth fund investment reaps handsome profit.
With the high inflation rate, run away public housing prices and medical cost, the more 'lucky' ones have with a roof over their head but little disposable income to see them through their twilight years. The unlucky ones will have no roof and little food on the table. The most unlucky ones will also be bankrupt by high medical fee.
Currently, seems like most elderly folks depend on their children for support, which accounts for some 60% of their retirement income. This ranks S'pore as one of the highest amongst our neighboring countries for poor retirement provision.
Even our neighboring countries' pension fund outstripped S'pore pathetic on average 2% CPF disposal income provision. We have to bear in mind that theirs is a pension fund, while CPF is in fact our own money, which the govt loves to refer to as 'pension' fund in recent years.
Family support is an issue for the young generation as they have to plan for their own retirement too, while at the same time burden with raising up kids and supporting their aging parents. So can't blame the young couples for not wanting more than 1 kid. Bearing in mind one can end up in court for not supporting your parents.* Living within your means in S'pore is make sure you are able to support your parents and not to have more children than you can afford. It is expensive to bring up a child in S'pore and support of frail parents can be very taxing due to the high medical cost.
* Note : having a law that encourages parents to sue their children is not so much a reflection of the social fibre but the mentality of PAP. They love to sue and welfare is a dirty word to them.

SPYING classification
The way our govt under PAP leadership deals with inquiry both during parliamentary session and in foreign diplomacy is the same - non answer or beat around the bushes. So when our neighbors Malaysia and Indonesia questioned if S'pore is involved in the recent spying incident, the answer given by our 'esteem' minister is - he is not going to answer the question. Instead he gave everyone a lecture on how spying is classified. Spying is considered as spying if it :
1) is harmful
2) there is 100% involvement
What seems to be implied is that it is ok to spy on your neighbor if it is 'not harmful'. Sound pretty lame indeed. Don't think Malaysia nor Indonesia think it is acceptable. What a stupid answer, as it is an invitation for all countries to spy on S'pore as long as it is 'not harmful'. Perhaps the minister should clearly define what constitute 'harmful' and 'not harmful'.
The 2nd spying classification by percentage is equally idiotic. According to our 'esteem' minister - since it is difficult to determine the percentage - "5% true or 95% true", therefore he could not provide an answer if S'pore spied on our neighbors. Is he implying that only if it is 100% involvement - then it is consider as spying? So maybe because S'pore only 'assisted' US and Australia in their spying activities, S'pore involvement is less than 100% . Therefore it is not consider as spying. By his account, our neighboring countries can join force and spy on S'pore, as long as each of their involvement is less than 100%.
If one does something behind your neighbor's back, yet does not have the guts to stand up for your action when confronted - what does it says about that person ? When you cannot justify your action, then at least offer an apology. Sigh - we the citizens are ashamed of our govt under PAP leadership.

Simple Pleasure in Life
ManuLife took up advertisement in MRT stations about planning to make sure we can enjoy simple pleasure in life after retirement. A somber reminder that many S'poreans would not be able to do so in their retirement even if they meet CPF minimum sum requirement after working a whole life time. The advertisement uses 2 examples - enjoying breakfast with your spouse and the couple going for annual holiday.
Breakfast : $6 x 365days x 25 year ~ $55k
Holiday : $3000 x 25 years ~ $75k
With inflation, even skipping breakfast and just taking 2 meals (lunch/dinner) a day in heartland hawker center, $6 would hardly be enough even for 1 person in the near future. What with household bills..etc, holiday is out of the question. The money has to go into food and other expenses to make ends meet for the retiree, especially if he/she has to support his/her spouse or elderly parent(s) as well.
This is the Hard Truth at ground level.

Work Schedule for PM

Day 1. Drive a taxi to experience life as a taxi driver.
Day 2. Join the old folks to pick cardboard and clean tables in Chinatown.
Day 3. Try taking buses and MRT to work and home, to know our public transport system.
Day 4. Go to a polyclinic because of muscle aches from days 1 to 3 activities. That will take up the entire day.
Day 5. Go to Sengkang Square Kopitiam for breakfast. No need for body guards because there is nobody there.
Day 6. Sweep HDB flat corridoors and chit-chat with residents. Clear rubbish bins and sweep leaves. Salary : $20/day.
Day 7. Go to TTSH and get himself warded. Try applying for financial assistance. (Must have your extended family’s incomes on hand). It can be very boring in hospital. Do some past years’ PSLE papers
Suggestion 2 - Improvement to Work Schedule
Since PM has an occupied week and has no time to fix the opposition, he should learn more while at it.
Day 1. While driving a taxi, try to earn $280/day ($7000/month).
Day 3. Wake up early and tap out before 7:45am for a free ride in MRT.
Day 4. In the polyclinic, check how many foreign medical staff are there. Also test the doctor to see if he/she can speak dialect. (communication problem of our elderly when seeking medical attention)
Day 5. At Sengkang hawker center, check if there is mee siam mai hum.
Day 7. Find out how KBW is able to have a heart operation for $8 and let us know. At the same time see if nursing is low skill job as stated in the Population White Paper.

Animals give better indicator of PSI than NEA
When I want to know how bad is the haze outside, besides using my visual judgement, I take a look at where my cat is resting. If it is lying low - it means the PSI level is bad.
NEA past 3 hours averaging is of no use at all to us.
I notice that even the birds are chipping less. There is a flock of parakeets that fly by early morning and evening. When the weather is good, they are happily 'chatting' away. Now it is all quiet. Not sure if they are still flying by.
We are all going back to basic. No point depending on advance technology since NEA refuses outright to give us reliable current reading.

Paper Jackpot Machine

Pedestrains Walking Directly under construction Crane
All things can be compromised in the name of growth. So, to house 6.9 million population to sustain S'pore growth in the near future, the govt under PAP is playing a catching up game. They are building every thing like craze since they have under provided for many years all the critical infrastructure (housing, transport, hospital.....) even to cater for the current population of 5.3 million.
In the past, construction sites are cordon off so that there is a safe radius of operation for the cranes. Now as they are desperately squeezing in to build more infrastructure amongst existing buildings, pedestrians are walking directly under the boom of the construction crane. This is because the pedestrian pathway cut across the MRT construction site!
Yes, they still cordon off the walkway to prevent one from seeing what is going on at the construction site and to provide shelter from the rain. If one is not observant, perhaps he/she may not be aware of the potential danger of walking directly below the operating crane. The barricade construction and material used will not be strong enough to withstand the force of load carried by the crane nor the weight of its boom should there be a mishap. A bus stop and a HDB block are also within the radius of the crane operating boom.
If there is a crane mishap, pedestrians using the walkway or commuters at the bus stop would be crashed by the boom. The adjacent HDB block could also be demolished should the crane toppled over. The consequence could be fatal for the unlucky residents.
There have been serious past incidents involving crane toppling over. But with so much construction going on, the authority probably decided to take the risk in order to minimize inconvenience to the residents, So they build a walkway cutting across the construction site and directly below the crane! May be folks themselves are getting 'acclimatized' to the unsafe conditions around them too. After all, the city of S'pore has become one big construction site - every where you go, your are hit with MRT and residential housing construction.

Our quality of living has already suffered with years of unsustainable growth to increase the population. Now they are willing even to compromise our safety and life in the name of growth !
In the past, construction sites are cordon off so that there is a safe radius of operation for the cranes. Now as they are desperately squeezing in to build more infrastructure amongst existing buildings, pedestrians are walking directly under the boom of the construction crane. This is because the pedestrian pathway cut across the MRT construction site!
Yes, they still cordon off the walkway to prevent one from seeing what is going on at the construction site and to provide shelter from the rain. If one is not observant, perhaps he/she may not be aware of the potential danger of walking directly below the operating crane. The barricade construction and material used will not be strong enough to withstand the force of load carried by the crane nor the weight of its boom should there be a mishap. A bus stop and a HDB block are also within the radius of the crane operating boom.
If there is a crane mishap, pedestrians using the walkway or commuters at the bus stop would be crashed by the boom. The adjacent HDB block could also be demolished should the crane toppled over. The consequence could be fatal for the unlucky residents.
There have been serious past incidents involving crane toppling over. But with so much construction going on, the authority probably decided to take the risk in order to minimize inconvenience to the residents, So they build a walkway cutting across the construction site and directly below the crane! May be folks themselves are getting 'acclimatized' to the unsafe conditions around them too. After all, the city of S'pore has become one big construction site - every where you go, your are hit with MRT and residential housing construction.

Things are NOT WELL in Singapore
